Cricket World Cup Day!

To celebrate the 2019 Cricket World Cup, Tunbridge Wells Borderers hosted a children vs parents match on Sunday 9thJune.
The parents lost the toss and were put in by the children. Things got worse when opening bowler Harry cleaned up his dad (and U13 coach) first ball and next over Anish bowled his dad. Clearly we have taught them well (they didn’t say as they trudged off to whoops of delight).
In total, the children took the wickets of four parents, but a middle-order counter-attack saw cow corner peppered, as substance triumphed over style. The parents eventually slogged their way to 150.
The under-13s started well, with Jimmy dismantling his dad’s bowling, but once competitive parents emerged (worryingly fully formed) a comfortable win the for the parents was inevitable. However there were plenty of positive signs that next year, with the children a bit older, stronger and wiser, and the parents a bit older, creakier and unwise, revenge could be in the air.
Terrific fun for all and a great way to celebrate a home World Cup.
